Site preparation began this week for UNC Charlotte’s new Energy-Focused Early College High School. Located adjacent to the CRI Parking Deck, the new five-year school will welcome its first 100 students this August and will incorporate special projects and activities orchestrated through Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, N.C. New Schools,  EPIC, and The William States Lee College of Engineering. One of the many unique features on-site will be the award-winning Solar Decathlon House, designed and constructed by students and faculty from UNC Charlotte’s programs in architecture and engineering. Students will earn STEM-focused college credits as they work towards their high school diplomas.
